A tropical persimmon whose name Black Sapote is derived from the native American word for sweet fruit, sapotal. This 4-8 inch tomato shaped treat ripens from November to March.

Mix the fruit with yogurt or sour cream for an instant moose. It is also excellent for rich breads and cakes.

Diospyros digyna - also known as black sapote, and chocolate pudding fruit.
